Pikes Peak Urban Gardens
Part of health and fitness is eating right. Over the past few years’ organic food is becoming more and more popular as well as more available. Many new grocery stores and shops are offering organic fruits and vegetables. However, one downside to organic foods is that they are more expensive. One reason they cost more is because organic crops don’t yield as much and without all of the pesticides crops are more vulnerable to bug infestations and other variables. Which the higher price organic foods might be out of your price range and overall less appealing to you.
Not to worry! You can still have farm fresh organic fruits and veggies at a fraction of the grocery and specialty store prices, you can simply grow your own!
Larry, founder of Pikes Peak Urban Gardens, in Colorado Springs has found a way to help you grow your own garden of delicious foods even if you don’t have any experience or any room to plant.
Larry has helped build many Urban gardens right here in Colorado Springs where you can plant, grow and harvest your own food and he even helps you get started if you have no previous gardening experience.
Eight years ago Larry started PPUG because he saw a need for more community gardens. The basic idea is his organization buys land/lots and offers it to people in the community to make their own gardens. Larry has a true passion for community as well as gardening and since he started he has helped build around two dozen gardens from schools to churches and other organizations.
If you would like to know more, you can visit the PPUG WEBSITE and better yet you could attend one of their upcoming events to learn more about your new garden.
We were so delighted to have Larry on to tell us about his Non-Profit organization that is truly making a difference in The Springs area.
And as always remember – Stay Motivated!
