Psoriasis is a skin condition that millions of people live with every day and I am one of those people. I have had Psoriasis for about twelve years and I have tried tons of different treatments and products to try to get relief from this dry itchy skin disease. Psoriasis is a skin condition where your skin cells build up on the surface of your skin causing red patches of skin topped with white flaky skin on top. It itches like an SOB and sucks because it feels so good to itch it so you get stuck in this weird pleasure slash pain where you are frantically itching your body at times. I first got Psoriasis when I was eighteen and I freaked out because I had no idea what it was and it covered my entire leg on my calf. I went to a dermatologist who saw my skin and knew immediately what it was, she ordered a blood test just to be sure that it wasn’t something more serious and sent me home with a prescription for a steroid cream that worked like a charm. My Psoriasis cleared up in a week or two and I didn’t think much about it, however I had to continue to use this cream as the red patches would return soon after I stopped using it. Furthermore my Psoriasis was starting to move to different spots on my body such as my elbows, knees, stomach, butt, lower back and shoulder’s. The spots weren’t that big and didn’t bother me too much, though it was still really annoying and going back to the dermatologist to get more steroid cream became more of a hassle than anything.
One trip to the doctor’s office I started a conversation with the nurse who was checking me in, she also told me that one of her kids also had psoriasis and that they had been using UV light to help treat it which was working really good. I started going to the tanning salon of few days later to see if it would help me too! Guess what? It did! I continued to go to the tanning bed two or three times a week for five minutes at a time and the results were phenomenal. My psoriasis practically went away, it would show up in very tiny spots on my knees and elbows but nothing like it was.
I was happy for a while with this treatment of my psoriasis but this too became a bit annoying. I was going to the tanning salon multiple times a week and dreaded it. I knew that it was good but I hated waiting in line for my turn to lay in a tiny coffin like light tube that a bunch of other naked sweaty body’s laid in before me. Not that I’m a “germaphobe” I was just tired of driving over to the salon. Plus the prices went up and you were no longer able to pay by the minute you had to purchases a monthly package that started at thirty dollars per month. I had to find a new remedy.
