I am a personal trainer, power lifter and DJ/Radio producer. And, I am delighted to be a trainer on Under Ten Fitness! Growing up in Colorado Springs, I have always enjoyed the mountains and being active. During my freshman year of high school, I tried playing football and discovered very quickly that I didn’t like being yelled at and hit by kids that were much larger than I was. Even so, throughout my childhood and into my early 20’s I was pretty active with hiking, bicycle riding, and skateboarding.
It wasn’t until I was 26 that I found out about weight lifting and how much joy it could bring me! I have been lifting ever since and consider myself very lucky that I have found so much enjoyment in health and fitness. However, my fitness journey hasn’t always been all rainbows and unicorns.
When I was 14, I had my first fitness setback. Just out of middle school, I was diagnosed with a hernia. A second one developed years later, when I was 22. The doctors believed that the hernias were congenital because, even though I was active, I never did anything extraordinary to cause them. After my second hernia I seemed to lose that active spirit and I did not recover as quickly. My active lifestyle fell by the way side and I found myself in a “slump.” Over the next few years I would go on to gain 35 pounds! (it wasn’t muscle)
After my surgeries, I didn’t do much in the way of fitness and never really thought about it. However, I always had dreamed of having big muscles and a six-pack, but I never really did anything about it. Plus, my doctors told me to be careful and never lift anything over 50 pounds… Ever! But I finally decided that I wasn’t going to just let someone tell me that I can’t do something without at least giving it a try
Throughout my training I have proven myself wrong many times. I never thought that I could have a six-pack, but I do! I never thought I could lift more than 50 pounds, but I can! As a matter of fact, I lifted more than 7 times that at my last power lifting competition. I love pushing myself to see what I can accomplish! I love health, fitness, and working out and I’m so happy to be a part of Under Ten Fitness. I look forward to all of the changes that are to come and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
Brittany is the proud wife and partner of Drew. When she is not listening to her own voice on the podcast, she is either working out or (more likely) googling pictures and videos of cats.
She grew up in rural Wyoming, where the bulk of her exercise came from wrasslin’ ranch animals, throwing hay bales around, surviving in the vast prairies, and walking to and from school barefoot (uphill both ways… in the snow). She also played volleyball, and was a middle distance runner in track and cross country. Brittany moved to Colorado in 2005, where she attended Colorado State University to study Music Therapy, and Human Development. Performing music is Brittany’s true passion; she has performed jazz, show tunes, and opera as a vocalist. She also attended the University of Phoenix to study for a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
She is super excited to be a part of Under Ten Fitness. As an amateur to all things fitness, she believes that she can offer real experiences to other people who are just starting out on their fitness journeys. She truly believes in living a lifestyle of realistic moderation, and is hoping to spread that message through Under Ten Fitness. Check out her cat pictures and workouts here: Brittany’s Instagram

Dr. Higgins has studied brain function, movement, and pain for nearly 25 years. After working in the field for many years, Dr. Higgins concluded that many of the existing techniques and professions were too limited by their perspective or toolset. He soon recognized that many performance related issues, such as movement and pain, require a combination of neurological, soft-tissue and biomechanical alignment techniques, to remediate. Dr. Higgins sought out the best education and mentorship he could in coaching, neurological and soft tissue training and rehabilitation, finding it in the powerful combination of Z-Health Performance System and other techniques including A.R.T. (Active Release Techniques).
